VTV.vn - The 43rd meeting of the Mekong River Commission was organised in in Can Tho from 15th to 17th March, with the participation of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand.

Vietnam suggested that Thailand should provide specific information about a water transfer project on the Mekong tributary of the Huay Luang River and any anticipated impacts it could have on agriculture.

Vietnam has emphasised the severity of the drought and salinisation that have affected millions of people living on the lower reaches of the Mekong River.

All commission members committed themselves to working together to strengthen the role of the organisation in ensuring an integrated water resources management approach to promote the sustainable use and conservation of water, food, and energy resources in the region.
