International forum on women, peace and development opens in Hanoi

The two day forum was attended by Politburo member and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, and over 100 Vietnamese and international women delegates.

The event is intended to promote solidarity, friendship and co-operation for the goal of equality, development and peace among women internationally. The forum is also expected to provide international delegates with a good opportunity to learn more about the position and role of women in Vietnam. 

Speaking at the event, the VFF leader expressed his hope that delegates with exchange and propose recommendations on issues related to women so that international organisations and governmental bodies will develop better policies for women, especially in areas of armed conflict or war.
