In attendance was Shoko Ishikawa, the UN Women Country Representative in Viet Nam. The event is part of a series of global activities to commemorate 16 victims of domestic violence from an incident that occurred in 1960 in the Dominican Republic.
Vietnam is among the early adopters of the international agreement to combat inequalities and discrimination against women, and has made much progress in this area. Various activities have been organised nationwide as well as in Thua Thien Hue to raise public awareness about domestic violence.
