Vietnamese Prime Minister holds talks with Chinese President

VTV.vn - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on November 5th.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung praised the recent positive development of the relationship between Vietnam and China. Leaders of the two sides have regularly met and reached many important common understandings. Economic co-operation and trade continues to make progress. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highly valued the visit of General Secretary and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Regarding the areas of co-operation, Prime Minister Dung asked the Chinese side to create more favourable conditions for Vietnamese goods, especially rice, agricultural, forestry and fisheries products. He welcomed the Chinese government for providing preferential loans worth 300 million USD for highway projects at Mong Cai - Van Don and additional loan provision to the urban railway project Cat Linh - Ha Dong.

President Xi Jinping proposed four major directions for Sino-Vietnamese co-operation in the coming time. The two sides should increase high-level meetings and exchange of delegations. The two sides should promote co-operation in key areas and projects, while jointly overcoming difficulties to improve the efficiency of some joint projects such as the Thai Nguyen Steel Plant and the Ninh Binh Fertilizer Plant.

The two sides should strengthen border co-operation, target a trade balance and deepen monetary co-operation. President Xi also invited Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to visit China in the coming time.
