VTV.vn - Travellers from Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain will no longer need a visa to enter the communist nation from July 1 for stays of up to 15 days.

Vietnam has been offering visa exemptions for single-entry visits of up to 15 days for visitors from Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Spain and Belarus since the start of this month following a decision approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on June 17.

A seminar was held this morning in Hanoi by Vietnam's National Administration of Tourism on how to boost tourism development through this new decision. Participants at the seminar proposed plans to promote this new decision among the Hanoi-based Embassies of the six European countries, as well as representative offices based there. Related agencies are working on plans to hold press conferences and campaigns to boost Vietnamese tourism in Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Spain and Belarus this July and August.

The tourism sector aims to welcome 730,000 visitors from the five Western European countries this year, up 15% from last year.
