Vietnam’s Party leader hails US Secretary Kerry’s contributions to bilateral ties

The Vietnamese Party leader also praised Kerry for his role in the recent important diplomatic activities between the two countries, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

After highlighting the outcomes of the U.S. diplomat’s talks with Vietnamese officials, the Party chief asked the two sides to maintain regular high-level contacts for deeper mutual understanding and promoting the comprehensive partnership.

General Secretary Trong also highly appreciated the efforts and goodwill of both the Vietnamese and U.S. negotiation teams for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.

Vietnam’s policy is to continue working closely with the U.S. and other sides for an early conclusion of the negotiations, for the interest of all parties involved, the Party chief said.

U.S. Secretary of State Kerry told his host that his visit is one of the activities to welcome the 20th anniversary of the bilateral diplomatic ties, as well as part of efforts to carry out the agreements reached by both countries.

The U.S. will implement all commitments with Vietnam in prioritized areas in accordance with the Joint Statement on Comprehensive Partnership in 2013 as well as the recent Joint Vision Statement, the U.S. official affirmed.

Kerry also said he believes that the Vietnam-U.S. ties will continue growing in the future for the interest of both countries as well as for the sake of peace, stability and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and the world.

The US official also told his host about the U.S.’s point of view on the East Vietnam Sea issue, and the situation of TPP negotiations.
