VTV.vn - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Lao counterpart Somsavat Lengsavad worked on measures to optimise cooperation for 2016 - 2020.

This took place during their talks in Hanoi on December 6. They reviewed the results achieved in the period 2011 – 2015, agreeing that the two countries’ traditional friendship and special solidarity have grown steadily, while political ties have strengthened.

So far Vietnam has licensed 258 investment projects in Laos, worth roughly 5.4 billion USD. Trade volume has increased after both nations signed a new bilateral trade pact and a border trade agreement. The two are working on a master border trade development plan.

At the meeting, the two sides inked a MOU on a transport cooperation strategy for 2016-2025 with a vision for 2030.
