PM Phuc meets Chinese leaders

VTV.vn - On September 10, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli in Nanning, Guangxi as part of his activities during the China trip from September 10-15 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang.

"This is the first time Vietnam has attended the CAEXPO as the Honorary Country, which gives Vietnam a good chance to bolster economic, trade and investment cooperation with China and other ASEAN countries," Phuc told his host. The Vietnamese leader praised fruitful Vietnam-China cooperation in a number of areas, adding that during his trip, he and Chinese Party and Government leaders will discuss a score of measures to promote the stable and vigorous growth of bilateral ties, including maintaining meetings and contacts between senior officials of the two Parties and countries. 

PM Phuc also underlined the need for both sides to step up win-win cooperation, as well as closer coordination to resolve outstanding issues, thus taking bilateral economic, trade and investment ties to a new stage of quality, effective and sustainable development.

The two nations should work hand in hand to effectively control disputes at sea and persistently dealing with disputes by peaceful measures in line with international law, the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) in order to maintain peace and stability in the East Sea and in the region.

"Vietnam pursues an unwavering external policy of peace, independence, multilateralisation and diversification, with strengthening the friendship and cooperation with China being one of the leading priorities," Phuc emphasized.

Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli in turn displayed his belief that the successful visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will make positive contribution to the relations between the two Parties and countries.

He noted that the presence of the PM and many Vietnamese firms at the 13th CAEXPO siginifies the importance that the Vietnamese Government attaches to the China-Vietnam and ASEAN-China ties.

The Vice Premier reiteated the Chinese Party and Government' recognition of high importance to the relations with Vietnam, and hope the two sides will maintain high-level contact, consolidate political trust, boost substantive cooperation and people-to-people exchange while keeping good control of disputes towards the  stable, healthy and sustainable development of the comprehensive strategic co-operative partnership of the two nations.

Meeting with Secretary of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Peng Qinghua the same day, PM Phuc praised the role played by China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which shares border with Vietnam, in reinforcing the friendship and developing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

"Both sides need to implement existing cooperative mechanisms and work out effective solutions to facilitate their economic, trade, investment and tourism ties, especially the circulation of the two countries’ imports and exports," Phuc told Peng Qinghua.

Vietnam will take note of Guangxi’s proposals of increasing transport connectivity and building border economic cooperation areas, the Vietnamese leader promised, hailing Guangxi’s efforts to expand win-win and pragmatic cooperation with Vietnamese localities and others in the country’s central and southern regions. Peng Qinghua affirmed that the Party, authorities and people of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region place high importance on strengthening the time-honoured friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, agencies and localities, while regarding Vietnam as one of the top priorities in the China-ASEAN cooperation. He introduced the Vietnamese government leader about Guangxi’s measures to expand exchange and step up collaboration with Vietnamese localities in economy, trade, culture, education and tourism, as well as its efforts to make it easier for cross-border goods exchanges and deal with labour-related issues in the border area. The official affirmed his regional's willingness to cooperate with Vietnam in the transport sector, especially the construction of the Lang Son-Hanoi-Hai Phong-Ha Long-Van Don-Mong Cai expressway, the Dong Dang-Hanoi express railway and border economic zones.
