The participants reviewed his revolutionary career, contributions to the revolution and national reform, and his talented leadership. In December 1986, Nguyen Van Linh was elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and he held the office until 1991.
He was a strong advocate of the Doi Moi (renovation) process of Vietnam and contributed greatly to the country’s anti-corruption campaign during 1987-1990.
