Two suspects have been apprehended by police in Hanoi for beating an officer to death.
Nguyen Van Thuy, 28, and Nguyen Quang Duyen, 30, were captured for allegedly killing Lieutenant D.V.H., an officer from the police bureau in Quoc Oai District, the Hanoi Department of Police affirmed on Wednesday.
Officers are hunting for Dao Van Vinh, 39, the third suspect in the case.
The three were all previously convicted of attempted assault and drug dealing, according to police officers.
Initial investigation showed that Lt. H. was riding his motorcycle after completing his tasks on Tuesday evening when a car carrying Thuy, Duyen, Vinh, and some others came from behind, signaling that they wanted to overtake him.
As H. could not give way in time, for the road was narrow, the suspects assumed he did not want to let them pass before pursuing and forcing him to pull over.
The three jumped out of the car and attacked the lieutenant, only stopping when local residents interfered.
The officer was knocked down to the ground following the assault and brought to the hospital by the locals.
He succumbed to injuries later the same evening.
Both Thuy and Duyen have admitted to their actions at the police station.
