TRÀ VINH – The southern province of Trà Vinh granted licences to eight projects in April, provincial authorities reported.
Licences were granted to seven domestic projects worth more than VNĐ327 billion (US$14.2 million) and one foreign-invested project worth $3 million.
Since early this year, the province has attracted 15 domestic projects with total registered capital of nearly VNĐ581 billion ($25.26 million) and three foreign-invested projects worth $5.64 million, up VNĐ518 billion and $4.64 million year-on-year, respectively.
Trần Anh Dũng, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, described key national projects in the province as one of the favourable conditions for attracting local investment, including Luồng project, enabling movement of large capacity vessels on the Hậu River, and Cổ Chiên Bridge, facilitating the marine-based economy and goods transportation by road.
The Duyên Hải power centre with four power plants is capable of generating nearly 4,500 MW of electricity to major industrial projects, meeting power demand in the region.
With a lengthy coastline and extensive fishing grounds, Trà Vinh is well-positioned to develop wind and solar power, as well as cruise, ecological, spiritual and resort tourism, he said.
Trà Vinh currently has 181 projects -- 35 foreign-invested ones worth some $3 billion and 146 domestic ones with total registered capital of more than VNĐ98 trillion.
It is home to 1,900 businesses and 1,001 affiliates with total registered capital of some VNĐ25 trillion and has created more than 85,000 jobs in and outside the province. – VNS
