HÀ NỘI – The three-day National Day holiday weekend was a busy one for travelers this year.
The Mekong Delta city of Cần Thơ welcomed more than 76,000 tourists from September 2-4, up 60 per cent year-on-year, according to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The holiday-makers flocked to the Mỹ Khánh Tourist Village, the Southern Trúc Lâm Zen Monastery, the Cai Rang Floating Market and the Ninh Kiều Wharf, among others. The local tourism sector has made efforts to ensure security, safety and environmental hygiene for tourists, while organising a range of entertainment activities during the holiday. The Mekong Delta province of Bến Tre also served over 100,000 holiday-makers on September 2-3, doubling the figure recorded in the same period last year. Of the total, domestic tourists made up more than 60 per cent, said the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. During the holiday, about 50,000 vacationers flocked to the central province of Bình Thuận, including 3,000 foreigners, mostly from Russia, Thailand, Germany, the Republic of Korea and the US. Major tourist destinations in the central province of Quảng Nam, like Chàm island (Cù Lao Chàm), the world-recognized Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary and Hội An ancient town, and the Phú Ninh lake eco-tourism site, also drew a large number of both domestic and international tourists. — VNS
