LONG AN — Five people were seriously injured, including one teenager who is in critical condition, after a speeding coach crashed. The crash occurred on Wednesday night on a section of National Highway No 1 in the Mekong Delta province of Long An.
According to Người Lao Động (Labourers) online news, the coach carrying 10 people was driving on the highway at a high speed. It plunged into the right side of the road when it was 20m away from Voi 2 Bridge in Thủ Thừa District and broke the road-side barrier.
Five people on three motorbikes running in the same direction were crushed by the coach and thrown into a deep water-filled hole by the road.
The 15-year-old boy, Lâm Hoàng Anh, is in critical condition with his legs crushed and a brain injury. He was moved to Chợ Rẫy Hospital in HCM City.
Anh’s two family members, Hồ Thị Hiền, 34, and Lâm Ngọc Ánh, 14, had multiple injuries.
Two other victims, Võ Hoài Phú, 19, and Bùi Văn Thuận, 42, are being treated at Long An Province’s General Hospital.
Ten passengers and the coach driver suffered from slight injuries.
