HẬU GIANG A primary school funded by Zwilling J.A Henckels office in Việt Nam opened yesterday in Hậu Giang Province’s Phụng Hiệp District.

The Tân Phước Hưng 3 Primary School, which cost over US$100,000, was built by Saigon Children’s Charity CIO (saigonchildren) in collaboration with the local authority.

The school, which has three classrooms of 64sq.m each, is equipped with blackboards, chairs, tables and cabinets.

It also has a 300sq.m playground, hygiene facilities, a school gate and a hedge.

Construction of the school is part of a project called “A Good Will Toward Education” developed by saigonchildren with Zwilling J.A Henckels.

The three-year project aims to support the students most in need and the learning environment in the province.

It is expected to benefit about 1,000 disadvantaged students during the first three years, and about 90 students per year in following years.

Training courses for teachers and about 200 scholarships for students will be provided for a period of three years.

Saigon Children's Charity was founded in 1992 to help disadvantaged children have access to education and a fairer start in life.

The charity's School Building programme has helped build or upgrade 198 old schools, and its Child Development Scholarship programme has handed out 41,000 scholarships nationwide for more than 25 years. - LV
