CẦN THƠ — The Customs Department of the Mekong Delta City of Cần Thơ has seized 11 rhino horns weighing nearly 30kg at Cần Thơ International Airport.
The Customs Branch of Cần Thơ Port Border Gate said the rhino horns were hidden in packages carried by a passenger on a flight from South Korea to Việt Nam on March 2.
The flight was scheduled to arrive at HCM City’s Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, but later switched to land at Cần Thơ International Airport in an attempt to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.
The custom officials found a suspicious package while screening luggage for passengers. The package belonged to Đỗ Thanh Sơn, 38.
The custom officials have seized the rhino horns. Sơn has been taken into quarantine as stipulated. — VNS
