HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội Health Department has reported that about 2,000 cases of measles – including two deaths – have been recorded nationwide so far this year.
Since the beginning of this year, Hà Nội has recorded 805 cases of measles, Hà Nội Mới (New Hà Nội) newspaper reported.
Last week, the capital city recorded 89 cases of this disease.
The areas with a high number of cases include Hoàng Mai, Nam Từ Liêm, Thanh Xuân, Hà Đông, Thanh Trì and Đống Đa districts.
The disease is also on the rise in HCM City with 181 new cases reported last week.
Measles cases were discovered in all 24 districts with the majority of cases recorded in Bình Thạnh, Thủ Đức and Bình Chánh districts.
The outbreak is predicted to continue because many children have not received vaccines, according to the health department.
The department warned that people should be more active in getting vaccinations. — VNS
