Man dies in coal mining tunnel accident

A worker died inside a coal mining tunnel of Mông Dương Mine, owned by Mông Dương Coal Company, in Cẩm Phả City, northern Quảng Ninh Province, on Wednesday.

QUẢNG NINH — A worker died inside a coal mining tunnel of Mông Dương Mine, owned by Mông Dương Coal Company, in Cẩm Phả City, northern Quảng Ninh Province, on Wednesday.

According to initial information from the Mông Dương Coal Company, the accident occurred at the end of shift 3, when rocks suddenly fell on the victim, 33-year-old Nguyễn Văn Trường, who was working in the coal tunnel

Trường was taken to a nearby health centre for first aid by a group of workers and then transferred to Cẩm Phả General Hospital.

However, due to serious injuries, he died at the hospital.

This is the 13th fatal labour accident, so far, this year for Việt Nam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited. A total of 14 workers have lost their lives. — VNS
