HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam Report in cooperation with Vietnamnet newspaper on Thursday announced the top 500 largest businesses (VNR500) in the country.

Vũ Đăng Vinh, general director of Vietnam Report, said that this was the 13rd consecutive year that the VNR500 had been announced to honour the achievements of Việt Nam’s most successful companies.

The ranking contributed significantly to leveraging prestige and brands of firms as well as supporting them in attracting resources and getting access to business opportunities through increasing trusts of partners and investors.

This was also an impetus for businesses to continue striving to enhance competitiveness and develop in a sustainable way, especially in the context that Việt Nam was integrating intensively into the regional and global economies, Vinh said.

Topping the list were Samsung Electronics Thái Nguyên, Electricity of Việt Nam, the Việt Nam National Oil and Gas Group, Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group, Việt Nam National Petroleum Group and Vingroup.

Sectors with good potential growth were food-beverage, telecommunications and information technology, finance and banking, real estate, retail, pharmacy and logistics.

At Thursday’s event, Việt Nam Report also announced the top 10 companies in pharmacy, tourism and logistics.

The Vietnamese economy expanded at more than seven per cent during the past two years, in which, the role of businesses was of critical importance.

Firms wished to receive support from the Government in removing difficulties, according to Việt Nam Report.

Việt Nam Report’s survey in October revealed that 87.1 per cent of firms hoped for continued efforts by the Government in speeding up administrative reforms and improving the business climate.

More than 80 per cent said they needed the Government’s support in seeking new markets. — VNS
