ĐÀ NẴNG — Doctors at Đà Nẵng Hospital have successfully removed a 2kg tumor from a woman’s neck after surgery lasting two hours.
The woman, 68, from the Cơ Tu ethnic minority, of central Quảng Nam Province’s Tây Giang District, was hospitalised on October 25. The tumor was making it difficult for the woman to breathe. The patient also showed signs of high blood pressure due to the tumor.
According to the woman, she has had the tumor for 40 years. It was small at first but has grown larger over time, before finally reaching 30cm in diameter before removal. After carefully examining the patient, doctors decided to conduct the surgery to remove the growth.
Thân Trọng Vũ, who conducted the surgery for the woman, said “It’s a difficult case because the tumor was pressing against her windpipe and her blood pressure was high.”
However, the patient has recovered and is now in a stable condition. — VNS
