HÀ NỘI — A working team has been formed by the Directorate for Roads of Việt Nam (DRVN) to probe toll collection activities at the Dầu Giây toll station in the southern province of Đồng Nai.
The move came after questions were raised by the public over the station’s daily revenue after it was robbed by armed robbers on February 7.
Police said the two thieves made off with VNĐ2.2 billion (US$94,500) in cash, which was reportedly the cash collected on the morning of February 7 alone, while previous reports by the State-run Việt Nam Expressway Corporation (VEC) stated the station’s daily revenue reached no more than VNĐ1 billion ($42,900).
The inspection would start on February 18, said DRVN General Director Nguyễn Văn Huyện.
Results of the probe would be made available to the public, he said. — Khanh
