CENTRAL REGION — Drugs worth billions of đồng have been discovered washed up on beaches in three coastal provinces in central Việt Nam in the past days.
Police say a total of 11.5 kilos of what is thought to be heroin and almost 15 kilos of methamphetamine were found in Thừa Thiên Huế, Quảng Trị and Quảng Nam.
On Tuesday, a man walking along the beach in Tân Mỹ Village in Thừa Thiên-Huế found a plastic container with 21 packets of drugs inside.
Đồng Khắc Linh, deputy head of Phong Hải Border Guard Station said the packs were marked with symbols of lions and Chinese writing.

On Monday, a man collecting bottles on Quảng Trị's Gio Linh District’s beach also found a number of bags believed to be methamphetamine. He handed the drugs into the authorities.

And last Saturday, the Border Guard Station at Quảng Nam Province said it had seized 25 packets thought to be heroin that had washed up on the beach in Tam Kỳ Commune.
