Việt Nam is considered one of the fastest-growing aviation markets. The domestic market, including Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways and Vasco, has witnessed the newest name Vinpearl Air, a member of Vingroup. The development of the aviation industry will require human resources and infrastructure. Deputy Minister of Transport Lê Đình Thọ yesterday spoke with Vietnam News Agency about the sector.
How can airlines deal with the shortage of human resources?
The appearance of new airlines in recent years has increased competition in Việt Nam’s aviation market. This participation also contributes to improving the quality of services for air transport operations.
The participation of private airlines has increased demand for human resources, especially pilots, technical staff and flight attendants. High quality human resources is essential to ensure airlines’ development as well as their compliance with regulations on aviation safety.
The country’s high quality human resources do not meet demand, so airlines have to recruit foreign human resources.
To solve the issue, airlines need to train pilots and technicians themselves.
In Việt Nam, the increasing demand for human resources can lead to pilots and trainers shifting from one carrier to another, causing a risk of shortages.
It is necessary to ensure aviation safety and fair competition. To ensure and maintain high quality human resources, the airlines need to have appropriate policies for their employees.
There are some problems in management and administration in the field of aviation, especially the licensing of overtime hours, is that right?
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) is considering the licensing of overtime for airlines and aircraft maintenance staff. This is in line with international practice and complies with Việt Nam’s regulations on flight safety standards.
The CAAV will consider the granting of overtime when the airlines or aircraft maintenance staff complies with existing regulations and aviation safety will not be impacted.
The granting of overtime will reduce cancelled and delayed flights.
The CAAV is responsible for monitoring and ensuring airlines will not use the granting of overtime as a way to avoid compliance with the law.
The granting of overtime has helped airlines and aircraft maintenance staff to ensure smooth operations and save costs. — VNS
