THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ - At least 123 people were hospitalised in the central Thừa Thiên-Huế Province’s Phong Điền District after eating bread bought from a local shop between November 28 and December 2.
All patients admitted to Huế Central Hospital for emergency treatment complained of vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and dizziness.
The food poisoning victims had eaten bread bought from Anh Thi Bread Shop, located in An Lỗ market in Phong Hiền Commune.
Following the incident, provincial authorities collected 11 samples from the bread shop for testing. The test report has revealed that seven of the 11 samples had bacterial contamination.
In a similar incident, on December 2, 20 people in Quảng Điền District’s Quảng An Commune suffered from food poisoning after eating bread from a local shop. Eight samples have been collected from the shop and are being analysed to determine the cause of the poisoning. – VNS
