VTV.vn - Youth unions across the country have launched many volunteer programmes to support functional agencies in the fight against COVID-19.

The youth unions of Hanoi’s Ba Dinh and Hoang Mai districts have mobilised their members to support medical workers in conducting quick COVID-19 tests for Da Nang returnees in the localities.

Meanwhile, youth union members in Chuong My District have established mobile communication teams to popularise information on COVID-19 and general hygiene measures to help people protect themselves from the epidemic.

On the evening of August 3, the Hanoi Municipal Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation, the Pick-up Vietnam Club, and other donors sent 4,700 medical protective suits, 640 N95 masks, and 10,000 anti-splash shields, along with many necessities and cash worth nearly VND750 million, to Da Nang City, which is the current COVID-19 hotspot of the country.

Also yesterday, members of Nany charity group in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province, presented 2,000 free medical face masks to local residents in a bid to share a helping hand with the community in the battle against COVID-19.

According to head of the group, Le Thi Thuy Diem, the group will join benefactors to present rice, cooking oil, and sugar to 50 poor households in the city from August 19-20 to help them in overcoming the difficulties caused by COVID-19.

In Quang Ngai Province, the youth union of Tu Nghia District recently launched a programme to deliver more than 1,000 face masks and 700 anti-droplet face shields to local authorities and people in the district.

Last weekend, a working group of the National Committee on Youth of Vietnam visited and gifted SIM phones, medical equipment, and necessities to the provincial Border Guard of An Giang Province, who have been positively contributing to COVID-19 prevention and control in the area.

Amid an increase in the prices of face masks and shortage of quality face mask products as COVID-19 resurges, the Saigon Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co-op) plans to supply to the market with over 12 million anti-bacterial cloth masks and over 100,000 bottles of hand sanitisers at unchanged prices.

At an average price of VND22,000 for a pack of three anti-bacterial face masks, Saigon Co-op's retail system currently sells more than 100,000 anti-bacterial masks a day.
