World wetland day 2017 meeting
VTV.vn - The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has organized a meeting coordinated response International Wetlands Day. The event took place in Thai Binh Province - one of the localities most affected by natural disasters.

Vietnam has more than 10 million hectares of wetlands, accounting for 30% of its land area. 1 in 5 people in Vietnam are living in the wetlands and are directly dependent on the exploitation of ecological products. However, Vietnam's ecosystem is threatened by economic activities such as conversion of agricultural production and aquaculture, problems of excessive exploitation of biological resources and pollution. On this occasion, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment launched a program to plant trees - 5000 mangroves plants in coastal zone of Thai Thuy District, Thai Binh Province to create meaningful shielding belt for storms, tides, and creates income for coastal communities.
