On Saturday, the World Bank and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development took a look at the project’s results in Cao Bang Province.
Xanh Market is one of the locations that has received an upgrade from LIFSAP. Recently, it underwent an unscheduled inspection by the World Bank’s Vice President of East Asia and Pacific Victoria Kwakwa, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. As a result, the meat counter is now fully equipped with more hygienic machinery.
At a meeting with Cao Bang province’s authorities, the delegation learnt about the results of LIFSAP projects in the area. Dozens of local markets have been renovated, and 3 slaughterhouses have been equipped with high-tech machinery. The World Bank pledged to extend the project and stressed the need to raise awareness about food safety.
The ministry stated that LIFSAP will be expanded to 12 provinces and cities nationwide, with total capital of more than 79 million USD. It aims to improve the productivity, quality, and food safety of farming households, while reducing environmental pollution from livestock production. LIFSAP is expected to forge a sustainable path for the agricultural sector, especially as food safety has become a growing concern for Vietnamese consumers.
