Born and raised in a well-educated family in Hanoi, at only 19 years old, Le Thi joined the Viet Minh forces. Following that, she worked in the Capital Regiment and women’s forces in other areas. Although raising the flag was an unexpected duty, it was on that day Le Thi decided to dedicate her life to the country. It has been 70 years since the first Independence Day, and Le Thi is now over 90 years old. But she still vividly remembers the country’s happiness at that time.
