WHO recommends health solutions
VTV.vn - Vietnam needs an independent agency to evaluate the quality of medicine and new health care technologies according to the World Health Organization Director General Margaret Chan in the meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The organization leader also stated that Vietnam should toughen  regulations on the doctor granting licenses. Assessment should be held at least every three years to ensure the quality of practicing doctors. Vietnam should also strengthen the training of general doctors, especially family practitioners, to enhance the quality of primary health care while reducing costs and hospital overcrowding. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that besides the family doctors model, Vietnam would also upgrade the communal health care system to improve services for locals in rural areas. Vietnam is also working to develop its pharmaceutical sector to tap the country's diverse and precious medicinal herbs. To meet these targets, Vietnam hoped for continued support from the World Health Organization.
