VTV.vn - A programme was launched on October 8 with the aim to distributing welfare bags worth VND1.25 billion to 5,000 disadvantaged young workers in Hanoi.

Accordingly, each bag includes food such as rice, eggs, and farm produce worth VND250,000 which is enough to support a family or a group of 4-5 members for one week.

The program is being held as part of the “One million welfare bags” campaign, hosted by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Youth Union of the Centrally Run Business Bloc to help needy people amidst COVID-19 pandemic.

* On the same day, the Dong Thap Provincial Health Department received medical supplies and vehicles worth VND9 billion donated by the Truong Hai Automobile Joint Stock Company (THACO) in support of the province's COVD-19 fight.

The donation comprises 500,000 rapid COVID-19 test kits and a mobile vaccination truck.

Addressing the handover ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Thien Nghia expressed his thanks for the support of THACO to frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19 in the locality.

* The Hanoi Youth Union in coordination with the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) are implementing a programme on providing 18,000 free meals, worth VND550 million, to disadvantaged people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Hanoi City and workers from southern provinces returning to their hometowns in northern mountainous provinces.

Earlier, Hanoi youth union members offered 170,000 meals, each valued at about VND25,000, to poor people, freelancers, employees who lost their jobs, patients and their families in the capital city.
