Webinar raises awareness among ethnic minority youths on preventing child marriage and human traffic

VTV.vn - A webinar aiming to raise awareness among ethnic minority youths in preventing and combating child marriage and human trafficking took place in Quang Binh Province on May 5.

Co-organised by the Institute for Social Development Studies (ISDS), Plan International Vietnam, and the Quang Binh Provincial Youth Union, the webinar was held simultaneously in the provinces of Ha Giang, Lai Chau and Quang Tri.

The project on “Enhancing awareness of ethnic minority children and young people on human trafficking and child marriage through digital technology” (EMPoWR) is co-funded by the Delegation of the European Union and Plan International in Belgium, and has been implemented by the ISDS and Plan International Vietnam in 52 communes and 11 districts in the provinces of Quang Binh, Ha Giang, Lai Chau and Quang Tri.

The goal of the project is to support 17,200 children and young adults from ethnic minority groups aged between 10 to 24 in using the digital space to learn and access support services relating to child marriage and human trafficking.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Khuat Thu Hong, Director of the ISDS andd Project Director of “Em vui” platform - a part of the EMPoWR project, shared: “Through this webinar, the project wishes to communicate and spread the strong message contributing to the joint efforts of the Government and the whole society in the fight against child marriage and the prevention and combat of human trafficking.".

At the webinar, the organising board introduced the "Em Vui" platform and launched a programme of 100 messages on human trafficking, child marriage and related content.

“Em vui,” which translates as "I'm happy", can be accessed via www.emvui.vn and is also available via popular social media platforms such as Facebook, Tiktok, Zalo, Youtube, Instagram and Twitter.

The forum is designed to be a friendly, reliable and informative space where ethnic minority children and young people can learn and exchange information. It is also a platform for them to voice their concerns to policymakers, providing feedback that will allow more suitable and effective policies to be put in place.
