Under the slogan “Steadfast Renewal - Emulation for Creation”, the Congress reviewed the patriotic emulation movement during 2020-2025 and celebrated the solidarity, creativity, and tireless dedication of generations of VTV staff. From frontline reporters and late-night editors to technicians working behind the scenes and artists and directors constantly innovating, they together painted a vivid picture of the patriotic emulation spirit at VTV.
Looking Back on a Proud Five-Year Journey
Over the past five years, VTV’s emulation movement has been extensively carried out and closely linked to the nation’s major political tasks. Following President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching that 'to emulate is to love the country, to love the country is to emulate”, these movements have become a driving force, inspiring individuals to overcome difficulties and foster creativity at work, contributing to the successful completion of assigned missions.
Across the network, VTV units embraced meaningful nationwide campaigns, from “The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas” and “For the poor - leaving no one behind” to “Joining hands to eliminate temporary shelters” and “Nationwide emulation for innovation and digital transformation”. As the national broadcaster, VTV leveraged its position to spread these humanistic values widely, inspiring trust and aspirations across society.
Specialized emulation movements were also undertaken, such as “Promoting the tradition of solidarity, proactivity, and creativity to build a professional, modern national broadcaster confident in the digital era” and “VTV fostering a cultured journalism environment, cultured journalists”. These were not just slogans but guiding principles that shaped the professionalism and responsibility of VTV journalists in the era of integration.
The results were remarkable: many VTV collectives and individuals received high-level recognition, from the Labor Order to the Prime Minister’s certificates of merit and commendations from the VTV General Director. Of particular note was the growing proportion of awards for direct workers, reporters, technicians, and others whose silent yet crucial efforts lie behind every broadcast. Furthermore, these movements, produced exemplary figures: courageous reporters in flood zones, engineers innovating with digital television technology, and young directors reimagining storytelling on screen.
Speaking at the Congress, VTV’s Secretary of the Party Committee and General Director Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized: “Every achievement today is not just the result of individual or collective effort, but a testament to the solidarity, creativity, and dedication of all those working in television. Emulation is not just for honor, but to inspire, instill trust, and add motivation for future endeavors”.
New Momentum for 2025-2030
While the 2020-2025 period was marked by many achievements, the next five years will present countless opportunities as well as challenges. The 4th Patriotic Emulation Congress officially launched the 2025-2030 emulation campaign, igniting new momentum throughout VTV.
Against the backdrop of Vietnam’s ongoing renewal and international integration, VTV faces mounting demands. Not only must it fulfill the political duties assigned by the Party and State, it must also sustain its role as the nation’s leading media organization, accompanying the country’s development and guiding the public in the digital age.
To this end, VTV is set to undergo significant reforms to its emulation and commendation practices, ensuring that recognition is given to the right people for the right work, and achievements. Awards will be tied to tangible results, encouraging outstanding collectives and individuals, especially those directly involved in content creation. This will ensure that emulation will continue to be a driving force, motivating new initiatives and spreading fresh models throughout the system.
Beyond awards, VTV will also highlight and promote role models. Inspiring stories of collectives and individuals who overcome difficulties and innovate will be widely shared to ensure that patriotic emulation takes root in every department, every program, and every broadcast.
According to General Director Nguyen Thanh Lam, entering the new phase with confidence and high aspirations, VTV will continue to uphold solidarity, renewal, and creativity to excel in political duties and nurture the spirit of patriotic emulation across society. After more than half a century of growth, supported by the Party, the State, and localities, VTV has become a strong and mature national multimedia broadcaster.
