In this special VTV documentary, "Dien Bien Phu - View from France", the causes and mistakes that led to the defeat of the French army at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu are analysed through the top-secret archives of the French army and the comments of French generals who were directly involved in the battle. It then explains why France, despite all its military might, failed.
"Dien Bien Phu - View from France" is produced by the team of the Department of Foreign Programme (VTV4), Vietnam Television. With a duration of 50 minutes, the film will offer a new perspective on the Dien Bien Phu Campaign through valuable information that the production team has exploited from the vast archives on the campaign stored at the Archives Centre of the French Ministry of Defence (SHD), the French National Assembly, many newly declassified documents and information that is not or hardly accessible.
The documentary "Dien Bien Phu - View from France" will be broadcast on May 6 at 20h00 on VTV4 and on May 7 at 20h10 on VTV1.
