On the afternoon of June 25, Vietnam Television and A05-a Ministry of Public Security agency, held a signing ceremony for a cooperation program on protecting intellectual property rights in the digital environment.
During the event, VTV’s News Department and A05 also signed a separate agreement to collaborate on public communication and awareness activities related to cybersecurity and the prevention of high-tech crime for the 2026-2030 period.
Strengthening cooperation for a safer digital environment
At the ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Lam - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilization, and Director General of Vietnam Television -said the partnership brings together two organizations each with different responsibilities, yet both with a shared mission to protect the Party's ideological foundation, ensure information security, and safeguard cyberspace.
Nguyen Thanh Lam, Director General of Vietnam Television, speaks at the signing ceremony.
He added that cyberspace is no longer a “virtual space” but an essential part of everyday life. Alongside the opportunities created by digital technology, threats such as cybercrime, online fraud, data breaches, information manipulation, and digital copyright infringement have become more frequent and sophisticated, and increasingly cross-border.
“Communication about cybersecurity is no longer simply a public awareness task. It has become an important part of protecting national security, safeguarding digital sovereignty, and strengthening public trust in cyberspace” - said Lam.
As Vietnam's national broadcaster, VTV sees it as its responsibility to work closely with law enforcement agencies, including A05, in order to raise public awareness, foster a safer digital environment, and bolster the public's capacity to respond to online risks.
In recent years, A05 has supported VTV in protecting its information systems and technology infrastructure, helping ensure secure broadcasting. Meanwhile, VTV has produced a wide range of television programs and digital content on cybersecurity and high-tech crime prevention. Notable productions range from news reports and current affairs programs to specialized shows such as Stay Alert 247, Hi-Tech, Future Technology, and Safe Digital Citizen.
Protecting copyright means protecting the nation's digital assets
At the ceremony, VTV representatives noted that digital transformation has created new challenges for media organizations. As one of Vietnam's leading media networks, VTV has been directly affected by online violations ranging from copyright infringement to coordinated attacks aimed at damaging the broadcaster's reputation.
Many of VTV’s exclusive sports broadcasts, television dramas, and original programs have been illegally streamed, edited, and redistributed through unauthorized websites and digital platforms. Of greater concern is the fraudulent misappropriation of VTV footage, to which logos for gambling websites, illegal loan services, or other harmful content have been added before the videos are shared on social media to lure unsuspecting users.
According to Nguyen Thanh Lam, these actions go beyond copyright infringement. They also threaten information security, negatively affect public awareness, and create opportunities for other illegal activities.
Lam expressed his appreciation for A05’s support in combating online copyright infringement. He said that their cooperation has helped protect the legitimate rights of copyright holders while contributing to a healthier, more law-abiding digital content environment.
Lieutenant General Le Xuan Minh speaks at the signing ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Le Xuan Minh, Director of A05, said the cooperation agreement represents a practical and meaningful step that reflects the responsibility, initiative, and determination of both organizations in the new stage of digital development.
