This is a healthcare training session for local people in Hon Thom Commune on Phu Quoc Island. The session is conducted by a group of medical students and includes basic knowledge and first-aid skills for common diseases such as dengue or diarrhea.
Patients used to travel a long way to the provincial medical center, or even to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment. Therefore, in addition to training sessions, the student group provided funding, medicine, and medical devices for communal medical centers. They also handed out first-aid kits and scholarships for students at the Ganh Dau Primary School on the island.
Phu Quoc Island covers an area of over 600 square kilometers, with a population of 100,000. Local people living in these remote areas are facing difficulties due to a lack of infrastructure and knowledge. These efforts will help them improve their quality of life and ensure their productivity.
