Under the decision, VND2 billion will be distributed to each Soc Trang, An Giang, and Kien Giang Province, while Dong Thap and Binh Dinh will receive VND1 billion each.
The decision targets returnees from four pandemic hotspots, namely Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An, from October 1 onward, with priority given to ethnic minority people, orphans, and homeless elder people.
Each beneficiary will receive VND300,000.
The VFF asked the above-mentioned localities to use the money for right purposes and in line with legal regulations, ensuring publicity, transparency and efficiency.
Previously, given the fact that a significant number of migrant workers in Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces have returned to their hometowns since social distancing has been relaxed, the VFF proposed that when allocating COVID-19 vaccines, the Government and local authorities should give priority to the provinces that have the most people returning from pandemic-hit areas, as well as support the returnees regarding the quarantine fees.
