The Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, where the index is based, witnessed 280 gainers and 201 losers on the first trading day of the month.
The total volume trading was 11.5 trillion VND (3.7 billion USD). Foreign investors were net buyers with 176.8 billion VND (7.3 million USD) after two sessions of net selling in late September.
In Hanoi, the HNX-Index increased by 0.16% to 236.72 points, with 108 gainers and 66 losers. The total trading volume on the Hanoi bourse reached 1,283.84 billion VND (52.9 million USD).
The UpCoM-Index of unlisted public companies dropped by 0.11% to 88.69 points.
