The gathering saw the presence of an estimated 1,000 participants from the provinces of Hanoi, Hai Duong, Phu Tho, Bac Giang and Vinh Phuc, principally local Vietnamese youth practicing Yoga exercises and poses for peace and harmony under the guidance of Yoga masters from India.
Speaking at the event, Le Duy Thanh, vice chair of Vinh Phuc People’s Committee, said the gathering was one of the activities to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-India diplomatic relations.
Indian ambassador Parvathaneni Harish in turn said the event aimed to strengthen mutual friendship and understanding between the two countries and promote spiritual tourism in India.
Two years ago, the United Nations had decreed the celebration of World Yoga Day on June 21 every year.
