Vietnam recorded the fastest growth in semiconductor exports among the eight economies surveyed, including South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
The report identifies four key strengths: Vietnam's growing role in semiconductor assembly and testing, its established electronics manufacturing base, investment by international companies, and competitive operating costs supported by a skilled workforce. Vietnam also recorded the fastest growth in semiconductor imports among the eight economies surveyed.
But admittedly, Vietnam's rapid export growth partly reflects its much smaller starting base compared with major semiconductor hubs. Last year, the country ranked seventh in semiconductor exports, ahead of only Thailand.
