Vietnam’s National Day celebrated in Cambodia, Thailand

VTV.vn - The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia held a grand ceremony on August 30 to mark the 78th anniversary of the Vietnam’s National Day (September 2).

The event saw the presence of President of the National Assembly of Cambodia Lok Chumteav Khuon Sudary and Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia Sok Chenda Sophea.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang recounted the glorious history of the Vietnamese nation, especially President Ho Chi Minh reading of the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1945, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

“Regarding foreign affairs, Vietnam has always adhered to the policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification, multilateralisation, and deep integration into the region and the world. At the same time, the country has actively built a cohesive and prosperous ASEAN Community. As a result, Vietnam has been creating a favourable development environment, becoming an attractive destination for international investors and tourists,” said Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang.

He also highlighted the long-standing friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia as well as the considerable achievements in border marker planting, trade, investment, and others.

Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia Sok Chenda Sophea extended his best congratulations to the Vietnamese Government and people while affirming the strengthened relationships between the two countries in all areas.

*On the same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand also held a ceremony in Bangkok to celebrate the National Day with the participation of more than 700 guests.

Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh stressed the great significance of the National Day as well as Vietnam’s achievements over the past 78 years.

He also spotlighted the fine relationship between Vietnam and Thailand, affirming it as a valuable asset that both sides should cherish and nurture.

Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand Sarun Charoensuwan sent his best wishes to all Vietnamese people on this occasion.

“Over the past 40 years, the relationship between Thailand and Vietnam has grown strongly. Our relationship has never been stronger and the friendship between our peoples has never been closer. Vietnam is a good friend, close neighbour, and strategic partner of Thailand. Our bilateral relationship and cooperation are deep and comprehensive, covering all aspects and bringing common benefits to both countries,” said the Thai diplomat.
