VTV.vn - Vietnam Days in Switzerland 2021, which took place online on October 9, promoted Vietnam as an authentic yet dynamic country to the public in Switzerland and European countries.

The event, co-hosted by the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with representative agencies of Vietnam to Switzerland and the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam, aimed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Switzerland diplomatic relations (October 11, 1971-2021) as well as strengthen the friendship between the two countries, while creating opportunities for long-term cooperation and development.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam Days in Switzerland 2021 was held virtually for the first time, broadcasting live from 3 bridge points: main stage in Vietnam Television, the Embassy of Vietnam in Switzerland and the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the UN, WTO and other international organisations in Geneva.

In his welcoming speech, Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam Dang Hoang Giang said: “Vietnam Days in Switzerland 2021 not only testifies for Vietnam-Switzerland’s strong relations, but also promote the image of a beautiful, authentic yet dynamic Vietnam, which is ready to cooperate with Switzerland in all fields, especially innovation and creativity”.

Vietnam Days in Switzerland 2021 consisted of 5 chapters. The first part entitled “Hello, Switzerland! Hello, Europe!” brought Vietnam closer to the international public by highlighting the nation's diplomatic and economic partnership with Switzerland and its world-class agricultural achievements.

The second part entitled “Authentic Culture” portrayed Vietnam’s diverse culture, which is rooted from wet rice civilization. During which, the audience enjoyed traditional art performances which have been recognised as world intangible heritages, such as Hue Royal Court Music and “Then” singing. This part also discussed the topic of cultural heritage preservation.

Through its impressive footage and special art performances, the third part titled “Amazing Country” promoted stunning landscapes in Vietnam, from mountainous areas and alluvial plains to modern urban cities. In addition, the audience had the chance to explore famous specialties such as pho, bun cha or hu tieu through Swiss tourists’ perspective. In addition to the interesting sharings of guests, performances from well-known singers were also highlights of the event.

The last part “See You in Vietnam” opened up a friendly invitation to international friends to discover the beautiful and hospitable Vietnam.

Vietnam Days in Switzerland 2021 is under the framework of Vietnam Days Abroad - an annual national promotion programme held by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2010. Following the event, Vietnam Days in the United States 2021 is scheduled to take place this November, contributing to the cooperation across many fields between the two countries.
