Competition at Vietnam’s 2027 Lunar New Year box office is heating up. All three films are directed by filmmakers with proven box-office success.
Tran Thanh returns with "Em", which has begun filming but remains largely under wraps. Meanwhile, Victor Vu's sequel "Detective Kien: The Golden Curse" combines mystery with Vietnamese historical settings.
Director Duong Minh Chien brings a different genre to the line-up "Loan The: Nghia Khi Anh Hung" (Age of Chaos: Heroes of Honour), a martial arts action film inspired by Vietnam’s historical period of the 12 warlords. The diverse line-up promises strong competition during the Tet holiday, although success will ultimately depend on script quality and audience appeal.
