Vietnamese universities ascend in QS world university rankings 2025

VTV.vn - Vietnamese universities have moved to higher places in the QS World University Rankings 2025 recently released by the UK-based education organisation Quacquarelli Symonds.

Accordingly, Duy Tan University has risen to the 495th position among the world's best universities from 514th last year, while Ton Duc Thang University moved up to the 711-720 group from the 721-730 bracket.

The Vietnam National University (VNU) - Hanoi improved its ranking from the group of 951-1000 to 851-900. Specifically, the establishment continues to receive high praise from employers, with its two highest-ranking criteria being Employer Reputation (ranked 472nd globally) and Employment Outcomes (202nd – up 197 places compared to the previous ranking).

The VNU - Ho Chi Minh City has also climbed in the rankings, now positioned within the 901-950 group (previously within 951-1000). The university has three out of nine criteria rated in the world top 500, including Employer Reputation (389th), Employment Outcomes (466th), and Academic Reputation (481st).

The Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hue University – which entered the list for the first time this year – now stand within the 1201-1400 group.

Continuing to utilise the new set of criteria consisting of 9 indicators, the Quacquarelli Symonds, in this ranking cycle, evaluated 1,503 higher education institutions (including 21 ranked for the first time) out of 5,663 participants from 106 countries and territories.

In Southeast Asia, Malaysia has the most universities in the list - 28, followed by Indonesia with 26, Thailand 13 and Vietnam 6. Singapore has only four universities in the list, but two of which are among the top 20.
