VTV.vn - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda in Hanoi on June 20 to discuss measures to promote cooperation between the two countries.

Via the diplomat, PM Phuc wished to express his thanks to his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe for inviting him to attend the G20 Summit and visit the country later this month.

The trip will be made at a time when the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership is flourishing in various spheres, he noted.

Ambassador Umeda said Japanese businesses plan to expand investment in Vietnam, a country with huge development potential and always creating optimal conditions for investors.

He also mentioned several problems in bilateral cooperation that need to be addressed such as those relating to education-training, investment and trade.

Appreciating the diplomat’s opinions, PM Phuc asked the ambassador to coordinate with the Vietnamese side to ensure that his upcoming visit to Japan will reap the best possible results, thereby lifting the countries’ cooperation to a new height in all fields, including economy, trade and investment.

As extensive strategic partners, the two sides have high political trust, the leader noted, adding that he also welcomes stronger people-to-people and cultural exchange.

At the meeting, the Vietnamese PM also gave opinions about ways to solve the problems pointed out by the ambassador.
