On February 11, Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou paid a visit to officers and soldiers of Army Corps 11 of the Vietnam People’s Army who are working on the construction of the Lao NA House, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year festival, the staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Vladivostok,Russia, offered incense and flowers in commemoration of late President Ho Chi Minh.
The Embassy of Vietnam and a number of Vietnamese representative agencies and expats in Malaysia also offered incense to late President Ho Chi Minh on February 12 as a gesture to pay tribute to their root on the occasion of Tet.
In his Lunar New Year address, Vietnamese Ambassador Tran Viet Thai wished all Vietnamese people living in Malaysia good health, happiness and success. He shared his hope that the Vietnamese community will continue to care for and support each other, strictly comply with local rules against the novel coronavirus, better integrate into the host country, and closely cooperate with the embassy.
In Japan, the Embassy of Vietnam hosted a gathering on February 11 to welcome the Year of Buffalo with many Vietnamese representative agencies in the host country in attendance.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Nam recalled several landmark milestones in the bilateral relations last year, particularly highlighting that Vietnam was selected as one of the two destinations new Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide had visited on his first official trip overseas.
In Austria, the Vietnamese Embassy organised a Tet celebration with the participation of OVs in Austria and Slovenia, and international friends.
Vietnamese Ambassador Le Dung wished the guest good health and success in the Year of the Buffalo while hailing the Vietnamese people community’s activities in 2020, such as the organisation Vietnamese teaching classes, and donations to support flood-hit victims in the central region.
This year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland celebrated the Lunar New Year by making Chung cake, a traditional food for Tet, to present to Vietnamese expats by post. Ambassador Le Linh Lan sent Tet greetings to the Vietnamese community in the host nation in a letter, in which she highlighted Vietnam’s achievements in the past year.
On February 10, the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel hosted a virtual gathering to celebrate Tet with the Vietnamese workers and students who are working at Israeli agricultural cooperation centres. The Tet celebration was held online to ensure the safety ofparticipants since the COVID-19 situation has become complicated in the nation.
