During the recording of this month's Vietnamese Melodies program, the audience in the studio was immersed in the melodies of the sea and interesting stories of those who work at sea. Under the theme "Singing in the High Seas", the program presented songs praising Vietnam's seas and told the stories of those who stay at sea, venturing out like living lighthouses to protect the country's maritime boundaries. The program was divided into three parts: The Sea in the Heart of the Vietnamese - Challenges and Opportunities, The Sea as Sacred Territory, and Preserving the Blue of the Sea.
The completely new remixes
The program featured many renowned artists, including People's Artist Đăng Dương, singers Hà Trần, Hồng Ngọc, Đông Hùng, and rapper Đồng Hiền Trang… These artists brought heroic melodies that have stood the test of time, such as The Song of Shrimp and Fish, Far Island - The Song of Truong Sa Soldiers, The Sea Sings This Afternoon, Flying Over the East Sea, and Waves… These songs were remastered to create a special and memorable stage.
Speaking about his performance, People's Artist Đang Duong said: "The song Far Island by the late musician The Song has been performed by me in many places, such as on the roof of Vietnam's largest rescue ship, the helicopter landing pad in Nha Trang, and even in Truong Sa. Today, I perform this song in the hope of arousing deep, sacred emotions about the lands of our country, especially the Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos".
Meanwhile, although Hong Ngoc has performed for military agencies for many years, she was still excited about this month's program. "This time, the song Flying Over the East Sea was reworked with a completely new rock style, combined with a brass ensemble, making the performance heroic and full of energy".
Stories of People Whose Lives Are Dedicated to the Sea
In the program, fisherman Đo Quang Bon shared about his entrepreneurial journey and his role as a judge in the "Shrimp Farming Challenge" competition. Notably, he is also the first person in Thai Binh to research high-tech shrimp farming models.
The program also featured fisherman Nguyen Đua, who has over 40 years of experience at sea. He is one of the veteran fishermen who strictly follow all state regulations, helping to remove the EU yellow card imposed on Vietnamese seafood exports.Speaking about the challenges of producing the program, editor Thuy Linh from the Entertainment Program Production Department, Vietnam Television, said: "Our guests are all fishermen, so we had to contact them many times to coordinate the filming schedule and ask them to arrange their sea trips. It was precious that they agreed to appear on the show with their special stories".
The program conveys profound meanings about Vietnam's territorial waters. The sea is like blood, a thread connecting the country and the spirit of the Vietnamese people; it is also an inseparable part of the territory. Vietnam's sea has played a crucial role throughout the ups and downs of history and has served as a great inspiration for musicians to compose beautiful melodies about their homeland.
Vietnamese Melodies - Singing in the High Seas will be broadcast at 14:10 on June 2nd on VTV1.
