VTV.vn - Vietnamese people living in Germany have donated a total of over 150,000 EUR (167,100 USD) in support for those in the homeland affected by Typhoon Yagi and its subsequent floods and landslides.

The fundraising campaign was launched and carried out by the union of Vietnamese people associations in Germany on September 15-16.

Nguyen Van Hien, president of the union, said that the money collected is a substantial amount, beyond the expectations and calculation of the union, reflecting the heartfelt sentiments of the overseas Vietnamese community towards their homeland in general and specifically towards the people in the northern region.

As of 5 pm on September 16, Typhoon Yagi, which made landfall on September 7, and its subsequent floods and landslides had left 329 people dead or missing in Vietnam, including 291 fatalities, and 1,922 others injured.
