VTV.vn - Vietnamese high-school students have finished a two-day examination, whose results will be used to determine their eligibility to graduation from high schools and entrance to universities and colleges.

The evaluation of test papers will now begin in all the country’s provinces and cities, except for Da Nang where students will take their exams at a later stage as the city is currently struggling to contain the coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the exam was administered effectively with no incidents of cheating reported so far.

Teachers and students said the exam questions are appropriate for the curriculum and discerning the competence of students as the results will also be used to determine students’ qualifications for higher education.

Taking place amid the resurgence of the coronavirus, testing venues were sprayed with disinfectants prior to the exam day while students were required to wear masks at all times during the exams.

Testing sites were also equipped with body thermometers, basic medications, sanitisers and soaps while free medical masks were freely distributed to examinees and invigilators at many localities.

About 900,000 high-school students registered to take the exam this year but more than 26,000 were unable to attend the first stage due to coronavirus and a second stage will be arranged for them to do the tests, with the exact dates yet to be determined.

With 2029 testing venues, the Ministry of Education and Training mobilised nearly 7,000 staff from universities and colleges throughout the country to supervise the exam.
