VTV.vn - Vietnamese expatriates and international friends gathered at a ceremony held in Paris, France, on the afternoon of June 15 (local time) to mark the 100th anniversary of the Overseas Vietnamese (OV) movement in France...

According to Nhan Dan newspaper’s correspondents in France, attending the meeting were Deputy Foreign Minister and Head of the State Committee for OV Affairs Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Vietnamese Ambassador in France Nguyen Thiep and representatives from French and Vietnamese associations.

Speaking at the celebration, Deputy FM Cuong praised the important contributions of OV movement in France, which greatly contributed to Vietnam’s resistance wars to restore national independence.

After the country’s unification in April 30,1975, with the slogan "Every OV in France is a people's ambassador", the OV community in France in general and the OV Association in France in particular have continued to play an important role in nurturing and promoting the friendly relations between the two countries, Cuong affirmed.

Within the framework of the celebration, the OV Association in France introduced a book named "One Century - One Road", depicting the patriotic activities of multiple generations of OV in the host country over the past 100 years.

On the occasion, the association and the management board of the President Ho Chi Minh’s relic site co-organised an exhibition featuring historical images of the OV movement and on the sentiment of President Ho Chi Minh with Vietnamese expatriates in France.
