VTV.vn - Vietnamese people are eating less rice, according to a report released at the latest World Bank conference on agricultural transition in Vietnam.

This signifies a shift of appetite away from rice. The report indicated changes in the daily Vietnamese meal. Vietnam recorded an increase in rice consumption respective of the rise in income between 1996 and 2000. Today, that trend has been reversed, with the increasing options for daily intake in Vietnam. Rice currently constitutes only one-third of expenditure on food, while livestock and aquaculture products make up 39%. Not only is the trend seen in high-income earners but in low-income as well.
