Vietnam wins international award for tobacco control

The ministry is among six winners of the award for global tobacco control. The five others are from El Salvador, Mexico, Senegal, Uganda, and Argentina. The Vietnamese health ministry actively worked with other ministries, agencies and socio-political organizations to draft a law on the prevention of harm caused by tobacco. The law, which has been passed by the National Assembly, bans smoking in indoor public spaces along with tobacco advertisement, promotion and sponsorship.
